For Parents

Illness Policy

There are times when a child should remain at home for his/her own welfare and for the protection of other children. If a child is sent to school and appears ill, then he/she will be sent home.

Keep your child at home if he or she has:

  • Fever over 100 in the last 24 hours.
  • Sore throat and swollen neck glands accompanied by fever.
  • Undiagnosed rash or skin eruptions.
  • Earache, red eyes, or drainage from eyes.
  • Tonsillitis or any communicable disease.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.
  • Copious thick, opaque nasal mucus indicative of a bacterial infection.
  • Head lice (until treated and no nits are present for 24 hours).
  • Taking antibiotic medication for 24 hours.

Note:  Children should not return to school following illness until they have been free of fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea for 24 hours.
