Educational Goals

The goal of all of our classes is to instill the joy of learning in the children, as well as to teach them how to cooperate and interact with their peers.  We offer an enhanced curriculum in all areas of development that reflects the children’s growing capacities and desires for learning.  The classrooms provide children with a warm and supportive environment in a comfortable group setting with a small child to adult ratio.

Teachers support the growth of a child’s self-esteem and respect for others by providing them with the opportunity to explore freely within consistent limits.  Programs are carefully planned to offer children a wealth of opportunities, challenges, and resources that will expose them to new things, yet allow them to understand and engage more fully with their favorite things.  Teachers encourage non-competitive involvement and adjust the structured activities based on individual children’s needs and interests. We are constantly working to provide curriculum that recognizes and prioritizes the natural development of the child, as well as the relationships that they have with their peers, their environment, and the larger community.  Both the child and the class community are active in the construction of knowledge.  Our focus on the process – not the product – encourages students to hypothesize, problem solve, and think critically about themselves and their work.
