Testimonials

Deciding to send our children to BCNS was one of the best parenting decisions we have ever made. BCNS is a community of wonderful compassionate educators, as well as like minded parents, who are fully invested in nurturing children’s curiosities. BCNS has given us life long friendships, and cultivated our children’s love of learning.

BCNS became so much more than a school for us; it became the center of our community. We always knew that we wanted a co-op experience and to actively participate in our daughter’s pre-K experience;  BCNS stood out among other co-ops because of the incredibly skilled staff and the warm environment that felt very home-like. Every single BCNS teacher knew our daughter and we got to know all of the staff and families. Our daughter loved every single day of her two years at BCNS. She came home with stories about nature walks, guinea pig feeding, and collaborative art projects and it was clear that the teachers were thoughtful in incorporating needed pre-K skills in every bit of fun. The families at the school were welcoming, caring, and focused on the wellbeing of their kids - not obsessively tracking every milestone, as we’ve seen at some other schools, but involved, engaged and thoughtful. We made great friends among the BCNS families and our daughter emerged a confident and happy learner; she was well-prepared for Kindergarten.

BCNS was just the perfect place for our son. It Is a place of love, comfort compassion, support and caring. Although we searched for a school for him, we parents ended up with so much more - a community of friends and like-minded parents as well. From days in the Underwood park, to field trips to Habitat, to music concerts and art shows outside in the parking lot (complete with food trucks) BCNS is always figuring out ways that they can positively engage their students and their community. We couldn’t have been more impressed with the school, the staff and the leadership. It was truly a special place for us.

BCNS is a special place that welcomes families into a community founded on respect, trust, cooperation, and exploration.  The Reggio inspired curriculum, with an emphasis on social-emotional learning, emerges naturally based on the children’s interests and developmental levels.  The teachers and staff are dedicated educators that truly love young children and constantly reflect and adapt to ensure the school experience is developing in meaningful ways.  BCNS is further enhanced by the efforts and interests of the parents, who are involved both in the classrooms and committees.  We are so fortunate to have been a part of this special community for the last five years!

When I began looking for preschool for my daughter, I honestly didn’t really know what I should be looking for. All I knew was that I hoped she would find a place where she felt supported, safe, and was able to cultivate individual friendships and a sense of community. What BCNS offered was all of that and so much more. BCNS is a community of caring, engaged educators who effortlessly relate to the kids on their level, support them when they are having a tough time, help them navigate big feelings or conflict, and play with them with a sense of boundless imagination and unmitigated joy. I was constantly surprised and delighted by the updates on curriculum that I received, both from my excited and proud child at the end of the day, but also from the teachers themselves. As a lover of nature myself, I loved how much they emphasized outdoor play and utilizing natural materials. The enrichment activities offered after school have sparked hobbies and interests she continues to pursue! My child came away from BCNS with the social and emotional skills to better navigate the world around her, and an intellectual curiosity that provides an excellent foundation for her academic future ahead.

As parents of twins, we were first nervous about getting both our kids placed into a pre-school, and then nervous about where we may have to send them if space became an issue. Fortunately BCNS was able to accommodate both our kids, and we are so glad they did. We had another option, but in hindsight, we now understand that BCNS was far different from a ‘daycare’ like option. BCNS curriculum engaged our kids, and really gave them a new outlook on learning and socializing. Our kids went for two years, through COVID, and BCNS was able to manage through that difficulty to keep our kids learning and interested. We had many great moments, but honestly the entire staff will always be considered family, and the friends that our kids made there are still friends even if attending different schools. I think this is the added advantage of being a cooperative: as parents we were also engaged, attended social events, and group events put on by the school. We cannot thank BCNS enough for taking care of our kids for two years!
